Experian Brings Conversational Credit Card Browsing to ChatGPT

Experian has launched an app on OpenAI’s ChatGPT that helps consumers discover and compare credit card options through a conversation, the company said in a Thursday (Aug. 27) press release.

With the Experian Credit Cards app on ChatGPT, consumers can ask about credit cards that fit their goals, such as building credit, earning travel rewards, reducing interest costs or maximizing purchases; review relevant offers from Experian’s partner network; compare details, including annual fees, introductory bonuses, rewards rates, introductory APY offers and ongoing APR ranges; and then continue to the Experian website for offers that match their Experian credit profile, according to the release.

“Consumers expect financial experiences to be as intuitive as the technology they use every day,” Debbie Hsu, executive vice president of product, Experian Consumer Services, said in the release. “By bringing our credit card marketplace into ChatGPT, we’re making it easier for people to explore their options, compare cards with confidence and take the next step when the time is right.”

The PYMNTS Intelligence report “Global Digital Shopping Index: The Agentic Commerce Deep Dive” found that 62% of high-income shoppers are willing to let AI agents search and compare products across merchants.

“This rapid shift to AI-centered shopping is rewriting the rules for digital commerce,” the report said.

Experian’s launch of its credit card marketplace on ChatGPT follows the company’s similar moves with insurance and loans.

Experian announced in February that it launched its insurance comparison platform on ChatGPT via its Insurance Marketplace app. The company said at the time that the app is designed to turn what could be an hours-long process of finding an auto insurance policy into a “streamlined conversation.”

In June, Experian announced that consumers can now explore personal loan offers from its lending partners while interacting with ChatGPT. The company said the Experian Loans app on ChatGPT combines conversational AI with Experian’s marketplace experience, lender network and financial services infrastructure.

In the Thursday press release announcing the Experian Credit Cards app on ChatGPT, Hsu said: “This is another example of how Experian is using AI to create simpler, more helpful financial experiences.”
