Prediction market company Polymarket says it has expanded its relationship with sports data provider Sportradar.

The new partnership extends Sportradar’s sports data, streaming and integrity services to Polymarket across more than 20 sports leagues and competitions representing approximately 300,000 matches per year, the companies announced Thursday (Aug. 27).

“Prediction markets represent a compelling adjacent growth opportunity and Sportradar is cementing its role as the foundational infrastructure powering this ecosystem,” Sportsradar CEO Carsten Koerl said in a news release.

“Accurate real-time data, premium live content and a robust integrity framework are what allow these markets to price efficiently, settle reliably, and retain the confidence of participants. We look forward to expanding on this foundation with Polymarket as the category continues to develop,” Koerl said.

The expansion adds global sports leagues such as Bundesliga, Euroleague Basketball, the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), the National Basketball League (NBL), Tennis Grand Slams and UTR Pro events, the release said.

This is on top of Sportradar’s existing relationship with Polymarket, which covers games from sports organizations such as Major League Baseball (MLB) and the National Hockey League (NHL), as well as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and tennis’ ATP tour.

Sportsradar says it offers solutions for Polymarket including “fast, accurate data and live odds to power pre-game and in-play market,” as well as integrity services to detect and allow users to report suspicious behavior.

The partnership was first reported by The Information earlier on Thursday. That report notes that while sports wagering accounts for the vast majority of transaction volume on U.S. prediction markets, the bets are legally contested. The MLB and NHL have agreed to share data, while the National Basketball Association has not yet done so.

There is also some disagreement among regulators over who oversees these bets. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has said it falls to them. However, some states contend that Polymarket and rival Kalshi are offering illegal sports betting and skirting state licensing and tax rules.

“Prediction markets are expanding under federal protections that remain contested in court, while Congress has yet to advance legislation settling how they should operate,” PYMNTS wrote in a separate report Thursday.

“The result is an unstable regulatory landscape in which federal registration offers platforms neither assured nationwide access nor insulation from state gambling enforcement.”
