Universal Pictures and director Christopher Nolan have officially extended the theatrical IMAX 70mm run for The Odyssey through the end of September 2026. The extension stretches the cinematic epic into an 11th week across select screens globally.

As the first theatrical feature shot entirely with IMAX cameras, The Odyssey has set a record as the highest-grossing IMAX release of all time, generating $457 million USD across IMAX screens worldwide. Nolan’s preferred format, IMAX 70mm, has generated $66 million USD globally with a $1.6 million USD per-screen average. Supported by an average ticket price of $20.58 USD, the film helped drive July and August to the two highest-grossing months in IMAX history.

Currently standing as the second highest-grossing film of the year at $1.55 billion USD —behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day—the adaptation of Homer’s epic poem stars Matt Damon as Odysseus alongside Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Samantha Morton as Circe. The film also marks the highest-grossing R-rated movie in box office history and the top-grossing global release for Nolan, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson.

The Odyssey is currently screening in IMAX 70mm at select locations through the end of September 2026.
