Christie’s has appointed Remi Guillemin as its global head of watches, based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Guillemin has more than 10 years of international experience at Christie’s, the auction house said Thursday. Previously Guillemin worked as head of watches for the Americas and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions. Early in his career at Christie’s, he led the first stand-alone sale dedicated to independent watchmaker F.P. Journe. Under Guillemin’s leadership, the US watch division has recorded strong growth, with the New York office setting a record for the highest-priced timepiece ever sold, the company added.

In his new position, Guillemin will lead the international team of specialists and work with collectors and clients worldwide on the sale of exceptional and historically significant timepieces.

“There is no better choice for this important role than Remi Guillemin, whose expertise, focus on smart curation, and client relationships has already grown our market and led to landmark success,” said Kim Miller, global managing director of 23Luxury at Christie’s. “This appointment will enable Christie’s to offer collectors and consignors an even more seamless global experience, with greater access to expertise, opportunities, and markets across the world,”
