Summary
Erin Magee stepped down as Supreme's Chief Creative Officer after 22 years, likely to focus on her growing label, Mademe.
Her exit adds to Supreme's recent instability, following Tremaine Emory's controversial resignation and successive corporate buyouts.
On August 20, Supreme Chief Creative Officer Erin Magee announced her departure via Instagram after more than two decades at the NYC-born streetwear label. “It has been the honor of a lifetime to be part of the World Famous Supreme Team,” she shared in the post.
Magee had been with the brand since 2004, having held several positions during her tenure. Since the brand’s early days, she has been behind the development and direction of some of the brand's most iconic pieces and collaborative projects. In 2007, Magee launched women's streetwear brand Mademe, which she may very well center her focus on now that she has departed from Supreme. The Mademe label has continued to grow in the 2020s, capturing major partnerships with brands like Doc Martens, Alpha Industries, and Courtney Love's band Hole.

The news is only the latest reshuffle to come from the brand in recent years, including its 2020 VF Corp acquisition, designer Tremaine Emory’s sudden departure from his new Creative Director role in 2023, and VF’s sale of the label to EssilorLuxottica in 2024. Emory's departure, only a year after his appointment, was particularly controversial as he cited internal discrimination as the reason for his decision. Since then, the brand has left the Creative Director position without replacement. Supreme has yet to announce who will fill Magee's long-held CCO role.
