2026 UTMB Mont-Blanc Live Updates

The generally sleepy alpine town of Chamonix, France, is bustling with spandex, running poles, selfie sticks, branded refugios, and pickle-juice vending machines plopped via helicopter onto mountain passes. That can mean only one thing: It’s UTMB Mont-Blanc week.

In other words, it’s the biggest week in trail running for the year.

The UTMB World Series Finals week culminates in the grand finale, Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) itself, the 176K (108-mile) shebang that circumnavigates the Mont Blanc massif. However, there are no less than seven races serving as the warm-up act, plus dozens of events, films, and activations and an equal (or greater) number of brands hawking their wares.

The packed streets of Chamonix are buzzing this year with questions surrounding whether UTMB Mont-Blanc—the marquee event to the global race series with 64 events and counting—is getting so big and so popular it could lead to its own undoing. But the anticipation is also palpable for the 10,000-plus racers alongside 75,000-plus spectators and supporters eager to cheer on their kin and behold the athletic excellence of athletes like defending UTMB champion Ruth Croft, three-time winner Courtney Dauwalter, and 2026 Western States champion (and previous UTMB winner) Vincent Bouillard.
